Black Crowes : Amorica (1994)

black crowes amorica

By Scott Goldfine

The Black Crowes’ third album finds the Atlanta-based retro rockers moving out of the shadows of the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart, but still mired in the trappings of their previous efforts. The sextet’s earnest approach and experimentation with Latin flavorings is winning, but their work is often undone by limp ballads and lead singer Chris Robinson’s overemoting.

For serious fans only.
