Cypress Hill: Black Sunday (1993)

cypress hill black sundayBy Scott Goldfine

Cheech & Chong meets NWA on the follow-up to Southern California rap trio Cypress Hill’s platinum debut. The group employs jazzy funk to support its cartoonish, deceptively playful raps and chants about violent street life and marijuana indulgence. If you liked their first effort, this one’s its equal.

But Cypress Hill is neither as raw as Ice Cube nor as adventurous as Arrested Development.
