Dead Alive (1993)

dead aliveBy Scott Goldfine

New Zealand director Peter Jackson raises gore filmmaking to a new level in this amazing horror-comedy. The minor story concerns a mother-doting lad who becomes caretaker for a group of zombies. The blood flows in rivers, severed limbs pile up like kindling, innards spurt volcanically and heads bounce like soccer balls.

It’s a must-see for fans of “Dawn of the Dead” and “Re-Animator.”
