Don Henley: The End of the Innocence (1989)

henley end of innocenceBy Scott Goldfine

The most conspicuous former Eagle takes a disillusioned look at society and romance on his third solo LP, “The End of the Innocence.” Featuring guests Bruce Hornsby, Axl Rose, Edie Brickell, J.D. Souther and Ivan Neville, Don Henley’s music stays within the confines of mainstream pop-rock.

But his insightful and clever lyrics greatly enhance the overall effect. The LP’s peak is “Shangri-La.”
