Janet Jackson: janet. (1993)

janet janet

By Scott Goldfine

Janet Jackson, the youngest sibling of pop music’s most famous family, eschews her girlish innocence and enters the realm of Madonna and Prince as a sultry siren on “janet.”

Once again overseen by Grammy-winning producer-musicians Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, this sexually frank album houses plenty of irresistible dance tunes.

But the last third nods off into necking mood music.
