Lenny Kravitz : Mama Said (1991)

Big things were anticipated for 1960s revivalist Lenny Kravitz’s sophomore effort, “Mama Said.” Unfortunately, this LP finds Kravitz ― who composes, performs and produces — still searching for his own identity. He shamelessly apes John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Curtis Mayfield and Prince throughout.

It’s a downhill ride after the album’s first two cuts, which feature Guns N’ Roses’ Slash.
