As one of the SOLAR label’s core musicians, he provided beats for some of R&B’s most memorable acts, including Dynasty, Shalamar and the Whispers. Among his best-known creations was the latter group’s 1983 funk-dance classic, “Keep on Lovin’ Me.”

Other artists Potts has worked with include: Leon Sylvers, Evelyn King, Gladys Knight, Regina Belle, Jerry Knight, Tavaras, the Jets, Five Star, Atlantic Starr, Brothers Johnson, Tyler Collins, Tracy Spencer and Hugh Masekela.
