Tower of Power: Rhythm and Business (1997)

Tower of Power, the Bay Area’s famed horn-driven funk outfit, has delivered the amazingly spry and satisfying “Rhythm and Business.” The veteran ensemble works up quite a lather on the album’s 13 tracks, with only a few clunkers stalling the peppy party. The title song deals with the dilemma facing many veteran R&B acts ― record companies and radio stations more concerned with making a buck than providing a conduit for quality music.

Fortunately, TOP continues to blow its own distinctive horn.
