Kenneth Branagh writes and directs this spunky English comedy about a band of misfit actors who put on a ragtag version of “Hamlet.” The play’s director and lead (Michael Maloney) juggles self-doubt, his cast’s assorted neuroses and staging obstacles in an effort to realize creative fulfillment.
The film crackles with fine ensemble acting and keen wit before succumbing to a pat ending. Rated R.
