Seattle-based heavy metal quartet Alice in Chains goes partially unplugged on the mini-album “Jar of Flies.” While the band’s sound is softened up, the mood is just as ominous, the pace is just as slow and brooding, and the lyrics are just as dark and disillusioned as their full-blown releases.
That all a good thing, it’s just that this collection of seven songs breezes by much too quickly.
