“An Evening With the Allman Brothers Band” (First Set) is the Southern rock outfit’s first live album since 1971’s landmark “Live at the Fillmore East.” The ensemble has experienced a renaissance over the past few years, and this frisky set from three recent shows continues the trend.
The Allmans stretch and flesh out their songs rather than settle for catchy ditties, all the while avoiding excessiveness.
