Retro British funk-pop band the Brand New Heavies have overcome the sophomore jinx of their last album with the enticing “Brother Sister.” This superbly recorded effort contains more than an hour’s worth of deftly executed, jazz-enhanced grooves featuring coolly effective singer N’Dea Davenport.
The Heavies may be the 1990s’ answer to the 1970s’ Rufus Featuring Chaka Khan.
