Michael J. Fox sheds his boy-next-door image to play a cocaine addict in the anti-drug parable “Bright Lights, Big City.” Fox is a magazine researcher by day and a New York club-goer by night, who becomes immersed in a decadent drug-induced odyssey that leads to loss of wife, job and self-respect.

The film lacks depth in characters and plot, but it is well-made and acted. Kiefer Sutherland and Phoebe Cates are also featured. Rated R.
