Based on Vito Russo’s book, this documentary traces the history of homosexuality in Hollywood movies. Clips from more than 100 films are intercut with interview snippets from celebrities like Tom Hanks, Shirley MacLaine, Lily Tomlin and Tony Curtis.
The excerpts reveal that gays, perhaps more than any ethnic or racial group, have been most persecuted on the big screen. It’s an amusing, appalling and entertaining romp. Rated R.
