Denise Calls Up (1996)

By Scott Goldfine

This comedy depicts a group of young people, including Tim Daly (TV’s “Wings”), who have isolated themselves by becoming consumed by work and interfacing with others strictly by phone.

The film’s satire of how electronic communication devices are reshaping our lives is incisive and amusing, but the characters’ inability to develop meaningful relationships is maddeningly frustrating. Also stars Liev Schreiber and Aida Turturro. Rated PG-13.
