Scott “DR GX” Goldfine — longtime disc jockey, music journalist, author of Everything Is on THE ONE: The First Guide of Funk and host of the TRUTH IN RHYTHM show — shares his picks and inside stories for the top 12 funk tracks of all time! This first in a series of funk music specials premiered on Modern Retro Radio in summer 2021.

The get-down rundown spans the late 1960s through the early 1980s, when funk rose up to become a dominant force on radio, the music charts and on concert stages through when it began to wind down commercially and become less mainstream. Only one song per artist was permitted, but there is a caveat. Funk fans may quibble on some inclusions, but most would rate the majority high on their lists.
