Based on Dan Wakefield’s bestselling novel, this forgettable bittersweet comedy, set in the 1950s, concerns an introverted soldier (Jeremy Davies) who tries to find himself after returning home to Indianapolis. The troubled young man befriends a fellow G.I. (Ben Affleck) who helps bring him out of his shell.
The film supplies some amusing absurdity, but it’s boring, weaselly lead character does not amount to grand entertainment. Also stars Rose McGowan, Rachel Weisz, Jill Clayburgh, Lesley Ann Warren and even Nick Offerman makes an appearance.
