This stirring documentary follows two inner-city Chicago youths (William Gates and Arthur Agee) who turn to basketball as their ticket out of poverty. Shot over five years, the story begins with the teenagers’ high school recruitment and ends with the onset of college.
The three-hour film could have used more judicious editing, but it reveals the harshness of “the system” and the power of the human spirit.
