Nick Nolte stars as a struggling actor forced to care for his six-year-old daughter after his ex-wife is imprisoned in this comedy from James L. Brooks (“Terms of Endearment”). At first, an inconvenience, the little girl wins over Nolte’s heart and relieves him of his own failings.
This film offers some amusing satire of Hollywood, but it’s soft at the core and somewhat uninvolving. But at least it includes some Prince songs (originally it was a musical featuring many more tunes). Also stars Albert Brooks, Julie Kavner and Tracey Ullman. Rated PG-13.
