Randy Quaid and Mary Beth Hurt are deceptively sinister parents in a horror film laced with black humor. The movie is portrayed through the helpless eyes of the couple’s young son, who discovers his folks are cannibalistic kooks.
A likely cult film candidate, “Parents” fits a recent trend (“Blue Velvet,” “Dead Ringers”) of disturbing depictions of evil underlying apparent normalcy. Also stars Sandy Dennis. Rated R.
