Rage Against the Machine, who has gradually cultivated a sizeable following since their debut bowed in 1992, should solidify their popularity with “Evil Empire,” another politically charged dose of rap and hard rock. Best described as Public Enemy meets the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the band kicks out angry raps and metallic grooves.
The music exhibits scant growth, but sounds as powerful as ever.
