Canadian progressive rock trio Rush have released their 18th album of new material since 1974. Unfortunately, the 11 tracks on “Test for Echo” find bassist Geddy Lee and his cohorts bankrupt of creativity. Banal pseudo-new age lyrics are accompanied by tepid, uncompelling music.
When passion and muscle creep into the mix on a couple of songs, like “Virtuality,” it seems of place.
