An incarcerated L.A. gang member (Glenn Plummer) changes his destructive ways in this hard-hitting drama “South Central” from writer-director Steve Anderson. Upon parole, the ex-von sets his sights on rescuing his 10-year-old son from the cycle of drugs, crime and murder that ruined his and his father’s lives.
Despite some overwrought melodrama, this film is an affecting portrait of inner-city tragedy.
