A 12-year-old runaway girl (Greer Robson) hooks up with a Robin Hood-like fugitive (Peter Phelps) in this buddy film set in Depression-era 1930s New Zealand. He’s trying to escape to Australia, while she’s searching for her father.
It’s a competent film with beautiful scenery serving as an ironic backdrop for gloomy times. But sparse dialogue and slow pacing dull its effects. Rated PG.
