Melanie Griffith and Sean Bean star as a couple who get mixed up in corrupt U.S. business affairs in England. The film uses a lot of imagery, shady characters and jazz music to create a film noir atmosphere.
Tommy Lee Jones and Sting are good as opposing businessmen, but they are constricted by a shallow script. “Stormy Monday,” as written and directed by Mike Figgis, is a case of style overwhelming substance. Rated R.
