Horror film veteran Wes Craven’s latest, “The People Under the Stairs,” is an inventive tale about a boy (Brandon Adams) trapped in a cavernous house of crazies. The kid matches wits with bizarre homeowners Everitt McGill and Wendy Robie, who keep zombie-like people imprisoned in their basement.
Craven’s superb use of camera, lighting, sound and over-the-top situations is a rare pleasure. Ving Rhames also shows up. Rated R.
