The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

By Scott Goldfine

From horror master Wes Craven comes “The Serpent and the Rainbow.” The story is based on the true story of anthropologist Wade Davis (Bill Pullman) ― who discovered a Haitian drug that induces a zombie-like state.

“Serpent” is a suspenseful psychedelic odyssey that delves into the bizarre world of voodoo. Unfortunately, much of the film is rough and disjointed. Also stars Zakes MokaePaul Winfield and Michael Gough. Rated R.
