Hard rock pioneers Van Halen are back with “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.” This album finds the quartet putting less emphasis on the pop hooks that watered down their past few efforts. However, some of these songs come off as unfocused noise, and “Pleasure Dome” is an overlong, progressive rock dud.
But the rest of the LP proves the band can still lay down quality raunch ‘n’ roll.
