Ice Cube, rap’s most consistently compelling artist, leads this gangsta rap trio’s debut, “Bow Down.” As his first group project since abandoning supergroup NWA in 1990, this 10-track disc serves up the tough bravado and street imagery the Los Angeles-based Cube has made his stock-in-trade.
Unfortunately, it fails to convey the personal flavor or offer the burning funk of Cube’s solo work.
