William Baldwin and Kurt Russell are firemen whose heated sibling rivalry parallels the blazes they battle in Ron Howard’s new drama. Baldwin, who fails to match the heroics of his brother and late father, becomes the understudy of an arson investigator (Robert De Niro).
The fire sequences dazzle, but they hardly make up for this film’s overblown melodrama, flimsy characters and clichéd, jumbled story.
