Kevin Kline is “Dave,” a dead ringer for the president who impersonates the ailing chief executive in this idealistic comedy from Ivan Reitman (“Ghostbusters“). The sweetly naïve Dave undermines the corrupt cabinet members pulling his puppet strings with refreshing forthrightness that charms the public and the alienated first lady (Sigourney Weaver).
A throwback to Hollywood’s Golden Age, this film — also starring Frank Langella, Kevin Dunn, Ving Rhames, Ben Kingsley, Charles Grodin, Laura Linney and Bonnie Hunt — is a delight. Rated PG-13.
