Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts and Kevin Bacon head a group of medical students who experiment with life-after-death experiences in this suspenseful parable. The students find they are haunted by their sins after sampling death.
While the film invites comparisons to other movies exploring altered states, agile camera work, slick direction courtesy of Joel Schumacher and a sincere cast give it merit. Also stars William Baldwin, Oliver Platt and Hope Davis. Rated R.
