Longtime George Benson fans will be thrilled with his new LP. After more than a decade of recording mostly pop fodder, this guitarist/singer has returned to his roots with an intimate set of traditional, acoustic-based jazz. He still favors singing too much, but it’s more tolerable in a jazz setting.
Key cuts: the Beatles’ “Here, There and Everywhere” and the instrumental “Stella by Starlight.”
