Illeana Douglas stars as an heiress set on making it as an aspiring singer in this tiresome drama about the rock ‘n’ roll era. At the urging of a talent scout (John Turturro), the vocalist assumes a new name and scores big as a crackerjack songwriter.
This film, inspired by rock icons Carole King, Brian Wilson and Phil Spector, is undone by indulgent editing and a ponderous second half.
