Jazz great Herbie Hancock has ended a seven-year absence from the pop music scene in style with the hip hop-inspired gem “Dis Is Da Drum.” The keyboardist ― who advanced the concepts of Miles Davis by pioneering the funky, synthesizer-driven jazz fusion of the early 1970s ― shows why his is one of the more adventurous spirits in contemporary music.
The LP is cohesive, consistent and oh so cool.
