Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster’s second crack at directing, “Home for the Holidays,” is a funny look at the often bittersweet nature of family gatherings around the holidays. Aside from an annoying Robert Downey Jr., the cast ― featuring parents Anne Bancroft and Charles Durning and daughter Holly Hunter — is uniformly fine.
Despite a clumsy last act, this comedy is worth a look. Also stars Dylan McDermott, Geraldine Chaplin, Steve Guttenberg and Claire Danes. Rated PG-13.
