Gangsta rap progenitor Ice Cube’s third full-length slab of raging words and fierce beats further cements his status as one of the genre’s most worthwhile street reporters. He spends time refuting his critics, reinforcing his tough-guy persona, rebuking white America and addressing the L.A. riots.
It’s a jarring mix, made palatable by a patchwork of funk samples and Ice’s earnest delivery.
