David Caruso plays an assistant D.A. investigating a grisly series of murders in this disappointing thriller from director William Friedkin (“The French Connection”). The film attempts to be a film noir and action piece, but, despite a fine cast, ends up being a piece of dreck.
What’s more, screenwriter Joe Eszterhaus’ (“Showgirls”) ending plays like it was thrown together by a greasy spoon’s graveyard-shift cook. Also stars Linda Fiorentino, Chazz Palminteri, Richard Crenna and Michael Biehn. Rated R.
