Singer-guitarist Jesse Johnson ― who made his mark with Minneapolis funksters the Time and later as a solo act and producer — has retuned with “Bare My Naked Soul.” Clear of the personal and legal problems that haunted him in recent years, Johnson’s first album of the 1990s forsakes funk for rip-roaring hard rock.
Despite generic tendencies, Johnson’s musical rebirth is a successful one.
