A disaffected cop (Daniel Auteuil) becomes involved with a delinquent coed who’s having an affair with her philosophy professor (Catherine Deneuve) in this apathetic French drama. The ever-shifting story — conveyed through several narratives, flashbacks and fast-forwards ― revolves around the death of the cop’s crooked brother.
The film presents a dreary world where love is out of place. Rated R.
