Heavy metal maven Metallica is back with its eponymously tiled follow-up to 1988’s highly praised, multiplatinum “…and Justice for All” album. With a hotshot producer (Bob Rock) in tow, the four-piece band broadens its breadth, often using slower tempos, into a pastiche of bluesy riffs, chugging rhythms and melodic progressions.
Supported by stark lyrics about societal hypocrisy, this LP soars.
