Jazz saxophonist/flutist Najee has found a way to create a more interesting tribute album than most. Rather than just rehash Stevie Wonder’s hits, Najee has enlisted crack musicians such as Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke and Sheila E., and producer George Duke for an instrumental revisiting of Wonder’s greatest work, 1976’s Grammy-winning “Songs in the Key of Life.”
It’s a brave, noble effort.
