Wes Craven, the creator of the original “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” has returned for the fifth sequel in the series that made mass-murderer Freddy Kruger a household name. This edition finds the razor-gloved slasher trying to move out of the celluloid realm and into the real world.
The premise is interesting, but by the time the film kicks into high gear in the final moments, it’s too late. Most know Freddy is played by Robert Englund, but for bonus points who is the returning actress from the original flick? If you said Heather Langenkamp, you are indeed a Freddyfied fan. Rated R.
