An FBI agent (Val Kilmer) discovers his American-Indian heritage when he investigates a murder on a South Dakota reservation during the 1970s in this drama. The initially routine probe develops into a complex scenario that forces the agent to question himself and all he stands for.
The plight of Native Americans is effectively depicted, but a jumbled, slow-moving plot scars the film. This Michael Apted-directed effort also stars Sam Shepard, Graham Greene and Fred Ward. Rated R.
