Featured in TIR Episode 233 (2 parts): Singer and composer James “D-Train” Williams, best known as one-half of the popular 1980s dance-R&B-funk duo D-Train. He and keyboard-playing partner Hubert Eaves III teamed up for five albums that included seven Top 40 R&B hits – among them was the No. 1 dance smash, “You’re the One for Me,” an all-time club classic.
Williams returned with the album, 701 Franklin Ave., in 2009, and throughout his career has lent his vocals to numerous well-known performers. Those include Patti Austin, Kirk Whallum, George Howard, Freddie Jackson, Cher, Elton John, Natalie Cole, Aaron Carter, Keb Mo, Luther Vandross, Vanessa Williams and Lenny Kravitz.
