Featured in TIR Episode 307: Bassist Nathan Watts, best known as a longtime Stevie Wonder collaborator and his eventual musical director. His playing is featured on seminal Wonder albums like Songs in the Key of Life, Hotter Than July and A Time to Love. He is heard on classic songs like “I Wish,” “Did I Hear You Say You Love Me,” “I Ain’t Gonna Stand for It,” “Front Line,” “Do I Do,” “These Three Words,” “My Love Is on Fire” and most recently, “Can’t Put It in the Hands of Fate.”
Among many other notable credits, he has worked extensively with the Jacksons, Lenny Williams, Teena Marie, the Pointer Sisters, Lionel Richie, Billy Preston, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, the Temptations, Paul McCartney, Ray Parker and Deniese Williams. Besides mastering the bass, he once considered becoming an accountant and much later earned a doctorate in Theology.
