Featured in TIR Episode 185 (2 parts): All the way from The Netherlands — founding bassist, composer and producer Bart “Dodge” Verhoeven of the superb Dutch funk band Seven Eleven and a noteworthy solo artist in his own right. Founded in 1987, the P-Funk and Bootsy inspired group helped keep real, rubbery and horn-driven funk alive during the 1990s and 2000s by releasing several studio albums and burning up concert stages throughout Europe.
Beginning in 1998, Dodge launched his solo career with groove-heavy albums of his own that include help from some of his funk heroes. Here he conveys all that history and a fascinating perspective of American funk as experienced across the Atlantic.
