Based on a true story, Michelle Pfeiffer is Louann Johnson, a high school teacher saddled with problem students in this involving, but standard drama. The teacher’s optimistic spirit is soon overwhelmed by belligerent kids, their bad homes and an out-of-touch school.
This sort of story has been done worse (“The Principal”) and better (“Stand and Deliver”), but Pfeiffer helps make it worthwhile. Rated R.
