The third album from R&B-pop princess Mariah Carey does little to suggest that she’s ready to step out of Whitney Houston’s shadow. While it’s admirable that Carey, whose multioctave voice remains ebullient, takes on writing and producing duties, she clearly needs more seasoning.
Only a handful of the 10 songs generate sparks, leaving Carey as another pretty voice with little to say.
