Long Beach, Calif.-based gangsta rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg exploded with his 1993 debut “Doggy Style,” which featured sinewy patter, beefy beats and Dr. Dre’s inventive production. Unfortunately, his follow-up, “Tha Doggfather,” bears little resemblance to that genre landmark.
The rapper’s sing-song delivery tends to get lost in a mix of listless grooves that underscore Dre’s conspicuous absence.
